Morgan Freeman The Activist – Saving The World Around Us

Morgan Freeman The ActivistAlthough the majority see him as just a mere actor, due to the fact that he always aims to better himself and the world around him, Morgan Freeman became much more.

Throughout the years, Freeman did all within his power to enrich his personal knowledge among a variety of subjects. Thus, his implication became noticed.

Morgan Freeman places himself among the most open-minded activists known nowadays.

He started with beekeeping and later joined the fight for human rights, exploration of racism, advocacy for the use of clean energy and even legalization of cannabis.

Who would have known?

Helping Bees and Protecting the Environment:

Morgan Freeman has done it again.

For yet another reason he reached top headlines. This time, Freeman explains the significance that nature plays in the life of bees. According to him, it is vital for future progress that man understands the world he lives in.

During one of Jimmy Fallon’s shows, as a full supporter of bees, Freeman admitted to building his own beehives on his Mississippi ranch.

During an interview with Jimmy Fallon from 2015, Freeman admitted:

“There’s a concerted effort to bring bees back onto the planet. We do not realize that they are the foundation, I think, of the growth of the planet, the vegetation. I have so many flowering things, and I have a gardener too. Because she takes care of the bees too, all she does is figure out, ‘OK, what would they like to have?’, so we’ve got acres and acres of clover, we’re planting stuff like lavender, I’ve got like, maybe 140 magnolia trees, big blossoms.”

The Ferguson Protests and Mainstream Media

As mentioned before, Morgan Freeman involved himself in many causes. Among them, we can also mention media propaganda and racism.

According to reporter Marlow Stern,  the words “unsubstantiated, biased conjecture…” represent Freeman’s exact lines used to describe his view on the media as it is nowadays.

While saying that the Baltimore Coverage was focused more on riots, on the other hand, the Ferguson Protests are another story. Being presented with only one side to this story, Freeman feels disgusted by the media coverage of mainstream events.

This again gives him a reason to go even further with his convictions: “F-ck the media.”, Freeman adds.

The video below shows more insight into his way of thinking:

Moreover, for Freeman, both racism, and social inequality tend to play major roles in today’s world. And, it is up to us to change it. All that remains is to see whether we can do it or not.

Cannabis Legalization

Suffering from fibromyalgia, Morgan Freeman has personal medical experiences with cannabis. Also, he defines it “the only thing that offers any relief”. Furthermore, he does not understand why it is not yet legalized.

They’re talking about kids who have grand mal seizures, and they’ve discovered that marijuana eases that down to where these children can have a life. That right there, to me, says, ‘Legalize it across the board!’”

Clean Energy and Worldwide Cooperation

Speaking on a wide variety of subjects, Freeman also points out how humanity and the entire world is powered by energy.

As if that wasn’t enough, he also spoke about the global warming problem. Ever since he choked on bus fumes in New York, he considers it his duty to spread the knowledge about clean energy, and to try to unite those who understand and want to help by joining in on the fight.

During the UN Climate Summit back in 2004, Freeman presented a short documentary.

In this video, which you can watch below, he tries to tell us “What’s Possible”, and also tries to encourage us to take further actions in saving the world around us.

We have never faced a crisis this big, but we have never had a better opportunity to solve it. We have everything we need to wake up to a different kind of world.

His desire to make significant changes to the world is no less than remarkable.
